Edge’s Return, Smackdown Rating, Rosa Mendes Shoots On Twitter, Gunner Defends TNA

- It was announced on last night’s Raw that Edge will be making a one-off return at the Smackdown tapings to conduct a “Cutting Edge” segment. World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and his Night of Champions opponent Mark Henry will be his guests.
- Last week’s episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown drew a 1.93 rating on Syfy.
- Rosa Mendes recently went off on the rookie Divas on Twitter, stating:
“If i’m making people upset, I don’t really care. I’m sick of seeing the Divas division ruined by these rookies. Sexy, smart, powerful!”
“Stay in FCW and stop shopping at Target chicas!”
“One rookie looks 12 with a crater face, one looks like she is 40 and the other one looks like she needs to go on Jenny Craig.”
“something happened, if you knew you would understand. Don’t stop loving me:) Rosa Mendes doesn’t go on a rant for no reason.”

It’s not clear who said Bobby Roode wasn’t worthy.
Former Referee Returns to WWE for a New Job, Edge's Return to TV, Ross
- Jim Ross will be appearing on Sports Talk 1400 today in Norman, Oklahoma at 4:30pm local time. You can listen online at sportstalk1400.com.
- Several fans have wrote in and noted how Edge said he would be back on WWE TV after a few months. It is highly likely that Edge will be returning to WWE TV to promote his WWE Studios movie that comes out later this year.
- Speaking of Ross, he revealed on his website that former WWE referee Tim White has just returned to the company in a behind-the-scenes role, not refereeing. White will be selling his Friendly Tap in Rhode Island soon, the bar that has been featured in several WWE skits over the years.

John Cena Talks Retirement, Edge's Injuries, Being A Role Model
While in Florida for Monday's episode of RAW from Miami, WWE champion John Cena was interviewed this week by Bright House Network's Rock Riley. To see video of John Cena's interview, head over to BayNews9.com. Here are some highlights of what Cena said about:
Preparing For Life After Wrestling: "I have an extreme realist concept about me living this dream. I know that it's entertainment and everything has an end point," Cena said.
"Cena said he believes developments in this area have to do with the wrestling industry coming out of the dark ages decades behind advancements made by the NFL, MLB, and NBA in the area of protecting their players.
"Nowadays, we have talent given financial advisement, we have advisement on health care, they have to pass health exams, they're drug tested. "You're pointing talent in more of a direction to say, 'Listen, this is the entertainment business. You have what you have while you're in it and there will be an end point, so we're preparing you for after that end point.'"
Edge's Retirement: "This is the decision - I know Adam very well and he lives wrestling and is one of the best - but, if this were 1980, he would still be wrestling," Cena said.
"Now, he got the advice, he said this is not the way for me to go, and on the spot, said, 'I'm retiring.' It was a decision that came out of nowhere, but there were some health risks involved and it was, 'Listen, do you want to keep doing this and never walk again or do you want to live a normal life?'
"The obvious decision with the help of the doctors and WWE is, 'I'm going to retire.' That's an example of how far the talent has evolved."
Being A Role Model For Kids: "It's a PG program, so I know a lot of kids watch our programming and in a world where role models are fleeting... I know where I'm at. I know WWE looks at me to be that guy. I was a team leader in college. I know what responsibilities you assume when you become a leader."

WWE Names New VP of Live Events, Edge's Final WWE Match, Zack Ryder
- Below is episode #9 of Zack Ryder's YouTube show. Ryder talks about Edge's retirement and finally gets John Cena to make an appearance. Here it is:
- WWE has named Thomas Veit as their new Senior Vice President of Live Events. He will oversee WWE's live events department including ticket sales, event marketing and booking. Veit worked for Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union and PPL Park before joining WWE.
- Edge's final match with WWE came after the April 5th SmackDown tapings in Charlotte, North Carolina. Edge, in street clothes, teamed with Christian, Big Show, Rey Mysterio and Triple H to defeat the team of Alberto Del Rio and The Corre.

James on her match at Lockdown and wrestling with a separated shoulder: "I’m really excited about it. I’m going in there with a separated shoulder and hopefully be able to tough through the match. I’m feeling better every day honestly and trying to get more range of motion back and I definitely hope physically to be 100 percent. I don’t think my shoulder will be 100 percent but luckily it’s my left shoulder and I’m a righty, so that kind of helps."
James reflects on the tremendous cage match she had with Tara on Impact a few months back: "That match with Tara was the first cage match I’ve ever been in. That was definitely a very scary thing. I don’t think I thought about it beforehand how high the cage actually is and how scary it is. You see the guys do the crazy stuff like that all the time and its like they think nothing of it…..or maybe the same things running through their mind when actually they get up there and they go ‘Oh God, this is really high!’. There definitely is a lot of pressure because it was such an amazing match in itself…..to be able to compete against myself in the same kind of match and going in kind of injured anyways, it’s definitely one of those things that I have to be aware of and be careful of."
James thoughts on Edge’s retirement due to injury: "He’s really just a genuinely nice guy. I have nothing but the upmost respect for him and what he’s done in this industry and the legacy he has built for himself. Before him, the whole ladders match thing with him and the Hardys and that Edge and Christian phase….that was really a raising the bar level on that whole deal and just everything he’s done since then.
"It’s sad that due to injured he has to retire due to the fact that it has taken a huge toll on his body but at least I think it’s very intelligent of him and it’s a huge pride swallowing thing to recognize the fact that ‘I can’t physically do this, I’m putting my life on the line, it’s not just my body anymore.’. And for him to have to do that and I’m sure its not something that he wanted to do at this moment in time and it was something that we all have to come to terms with, we all can’t wrestle forever…..but I think that he is so talented that theres many other things that he can do that’s gonna continue to keep him out and about and doing things."
James on Kurt Angle re-signing with TNA: "I love Kurt. He’s awesome. He’s got so much going for him with the Angle Foods thing and that’s starting to take off and it’s a really cool thing. He has such a name for himself anyways and to be the only male to hold an Olympic gold medal, everything he’s already done……I’m sure he doesn’t have to continue to wrestle but he just loves it so much. He has such a huge passion and love for this business. It’s just amazing. I think we’re very honored to have him as a part of the roster."
James' mid-term report card on TNA (with her being on the roster for about six months or so now): "I’m having a blast. It was definitely something that I was still on the fence whether or not I should go or not and what I was going to be able to bring or do that is different than anybody else has already done. It’s been a fun journey, a cool locker room, I’ve made some cool friends and I’ve been able to do some really compelling stuff and raise the bar even for myself. To be able to main event Impact, and do my first cage match, and have a cool storyline with Tara go on to Madison and have a compelling storyline with her as well…..I think it’s really…..brought a different spice to the show. Hopefully, they (TNA) feel the same."

Edge’s Condition, Butcher Responds To Graham, Melina Did Wrestler’s Court, Hall Back Home
- Edge’s official diagnosis is spinal stenosis, an abnormal narrowing of the spinal column. It is a common genetic problem among the elderly, most often those with a tall frame like Edge. His wrestling career and previous injuries have sped up the problem, much like it did with Steve Austin.
If Edge were to take a bad bump his chances of paralysis are far greater than those without the condition, thus the decision was made to retire.
It’s not something that gets better, so unfortunately no amount of healing will allow him to return.
This doesn’t mean he won’t show up every now on then for a light brawl.
- WWE Hall of Famer and hardcore pioneer Abdullah The Butcher recently responded to “Superstar” Billy Graham’s claims that he shouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame. Abby told The Ottawa Sun:
“I helped Superstar Billy Graham when he was in Calgary. I loaned him money. For him to say I shouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame is wrong. I still think he’s a nice guy, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What shouldn’t I be in the Hall. They put Drew Carey in. What’s wrong with me? I drew money all over the world?”
Of course the reason why Billy Graham disputed Abdullah’s right to be in the Hall of Fame is because of accusations that he was infecting wrestlers with Hepatitis C through sharing a blade and/or cutting wrestlers without their knowledge.
These claims have not been verified and the Butcher has not addressed them directly. He appears to be skirting around the issue.
The claims are dealt with in a new documentary entitled “Don’t Bleed on Me”. The official summary reads:
In December 2005, a physical evaluation deemed Devon Nicholson to be a healthy, muscular, experienced professional wrestler on the cusp of achieving his dream of signing a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. In 2009, Nicholson obtained that contract, only to have it rescinded on the grounds of him having Hepatitis C.
In between those two periods of time, Nicholson was involved in a series of wrestling matches with a “legend” of the hardcore, blood-letting style, Abdullah the Butcher; real name Larry Shreve. Upon further investigation into the cause of his Hepatitis C diagnosis and upon reviewing the footage of his matches with Abdullah The Butcher, he became aware of certain practices that Abdullah used in one of his matches against him. In the match, Nicholson claims that Shreve used a razor blade on himself repeatedly (the standard method for wrestlers to bleed during a match), but Shreve would also use the same blade on Nicholson, without his consent or prior knowledge, allowing both wrestlers to bleed excessively and have their blood “co-mingle”. Much like two junkies that share a needle, this practice is a dangerous one, due to the risk of spreading disease.
Some may remember a backstage incident involving The Undertaker and Bob Orton. Orton had been allowed to blade during a storyline with Taker in 2005, despite having hepatitis as a teenager. Taker was feuding with Randy at the time.
Sean Waltman was recently diagnosed with the disease and it has been suggested that Desmond Wolfe has been kept off TNA because he also has hepatitis.
- Melina reportedly attended Undertaker’s wrestler’s court in 2006, an unofficial and old school practice where the locker room leader sorts out situations, in order to address her backstage attitude and unscrupulous behavior.
This has emerged during the ongoing saga surrounding Morrison and Melina getting upset that Trish took her place at Wrestlemania.
There is a lot of negative information coming out about Melina’s character.
- Scott Hall has been released from Hospital, but his ex-wife didn’t rejoice. She told Mike Mooneyham of The Post and Courier that Hall, has little contact with their children—16-year-old daughter Cassidy and 19-year-old son Cody.
“He hasn’t seen Cassidy since August 2010,” Dana said. “I don’t think he has seen Cody in almost two years. They may have had one or two brief phone calls since then, but nothing that I know of.”
“He calls inconsistently and texts him, and Cody doesn’t respond… They hold it in. They hate to talk about it, but they accept that they don’t have a father or a normal life. The last time I talked to him face to face was when I took Cassidy to the hospital to tell him goodbye last August. It was a horrible scene. He had been doing crack cocaine for days and had used all the money in the account he wrote the child support check on and it had bounced.
“I have cut off his contact with me and the kids, and ignore his calls, texts and messages to me, which are 99 percent negative and nasty when he is drunk. At this point, he can have no contact with us unless I know his intentions. Actions speak louder than words.”

- This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw drew a 3.1 rating on the USA Network.
Tough Enough pulled a 1.53 rating, down from last week’s 1.81 rating. The number has dropped since episode 1.
- Former WWE Diva Serena will be having a TNA tryout at the next set of tapings.
- Scottish indy star Jack Jester of Insane Championship Wrestling is receiving a WWE tryout during the UK tour. Drew McIntyre started with ICW.
- Because Zack Ryder has been encouraging fans to bring signs to WWE events on Twitter, WWE have been instructing arena security to remove them.
I guess he’s not allowed to get over on his own.

"Edge’s retirement this past Monday on Raw was a shocking surprise. I had no idea that it was going to happen even up until the time Edge came to the ring and gave us the emotional news. There are no wrestlers in the business that I respect more as a performer and a man than I do Adam Copeland aka Edge. When I signed him in the 90's, he was a lanky, over achieving kid who simply wanted to live his dream of making it onto the WWE Roster. He and Christian were like brothers and both fed off the other in the ring as they each worked diligently every day to improve their game. I honestly can’t remember a single day when Adam Copeland ever did anything to disappoint me or cause our department or company any problems.
Edge has a brilliant mind, a kind soul, patience, and would be a great teacher, producer, broadcaster, scout, or whatever task he may want to undertake in WWE. I look for Edge to take some much needed time away from the business and enjoy the North Carolina mountains and his dogs that he loves so much. He deserves no less than to return to WWE in whatever role that creates a win/win for Edge and the company but only whenever Edge is ready to re-engage.
In my role as the head of WWE Talent, I signed many athletes/performers who ended up excelling in WWE but none, and I mean no one, was more of a pure joy to work with and to watch grow from a mid card, tag team wrestler into one of WWE’s most prominent and enduring superstars who will no doubt be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame some day.
I shutter to think what would have happened to Edge in another generation of the biz as it relates to accurately diagnosing his injury. Most old timers would have ‘worked through it,’ or attempted to do so, until their body completely shut down. That’s sad and unnecessary. Modern medicine and the WWE attention to such matters regarding their talent’s health were a blessing for Edge who will now be able to lead a somewhat normal life. I am especially pleased that one of my guys has attained financial independence and that he was able to live his boyhood dream.
Notwithstanding the touching farewell address by the popular native of Ontario, no one can debate that this story did not have a happy ending. Good things more often than not happen to good people and Adam Copeland aka Edge was one of the truly ‘good guys’ I ever had the privilege of knowing in the business. Now, Adam, if he so chooses, can start phase two of his WWE life and potentially gift the younger talents with his wonderful knowledge and passion for the genre.
Do it on your schedule Adam. Enjoy those North Carolina mountains and reflect upon a job well done. It’s people like you that make me extremely proud to be in the business."

RAW Breakdown: Edge's Speech, Gauntlet Finals Gains Viewers, More
- As noted before, this past Monday's RAW scored a 3.45 cable rating with 5.46 million viewers.
In a segment breakdown, Eve Torres vs. Brie Bella for the WWE Divas Title lost 359,000 viewers from the opening segment. Sin Cara's TV debut match vs. Primo gained 323,000 viewers. The Corre vs. Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry, Evan Bourne and Santino Marella plus the beginning of Jerry Lawler vs. Jack Swagger lost 239,000 viewers. The rest of Lawler vs. Swagger gained 537,000 viewers, which is a bit higher than the usual for that timeslot.
Edge's retirement speech gained 41,000 viewers to a 3.67 rating, the highest quarter of the show, which is usually a losing slot.
The gauntlet main event with Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler and Ziggler vs. R-Truth lost 532,000 viewers while Truth vs. John Morrison lost 109,000 more viewers. John Cena vs. Truth in the last fall and the post-match angle gained 1,021,000 viewers, doing a 3.91 overrun rating.
