Mainstream Media Covers WrestleMania 27 & More

Various media outlets are covering Wrestlemania XXVII this year, including Variety and FOX News.

Variety has posted another story covering WWE's attempts to hit 1.0 million buys for the PPV. The story looks at their marketing plan including Snooki, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin after failing to hit a million buys for the past two years. You can view that article at this link.

Robert Zimmerman, spokesman for WWE said, "We took a step back and said, 'What can we do to engage fans, old fans and prospective fans to come and get involved with WrestleMania this year? What we wanted to do was get a bigger push via buzz marketing and word-of-mouth. This year we're trying to get as much mainstream exposure leading up to the PPV than what we did in previous years."

FOX News' latino subsite talks about the participation of Rey Mysterio, Snooki and Alberto Del Rio. You can view that article at this link.

Meanwhile, USA Today posted quotes from John Cena, promoting WWE All-Stars, in which he says he's not as good as the rest of the locker room. That can be found at this link.

Y2J Compares DWTS/WWE, Huge WWE Media Day Set

Y2J Compares DWTS/WWE, Huge WWE Media Day Set

By Ryan Clark | March 23, 2011 | Comments

Y2J Compares DWTS/WWE, Huge WWE Media Day Set -- Chris Jericho recently told Digitalspy.com the following: "It's funny because when there are a lot of things about [dancing and wrestling] that are similar. There's a lot of leverage and weight distribution and balance. Then there's performing in front of a live crowd, your marks, choreography and as a musician, following the beat. It's not that foreign as it seems at first. The training's really hard. It's probably the hardest training I've ever done, but it's not futile. There are moves in dancing that I've never done before - you're turning your knee outwards, your elbow on the side. And hunching over - dancing's very elongated, very regal. Your neck stretches, your shoulders are down. So I'm focusing on getting rid of those bad habits." You can check out the full article by clicking here.

-- Chris Masters vs. Tyler Reks was taped last night for tomorrow night's episode of WWE Superstars. Full spoilers for the show are posted at this link.

-- WWE has a huge media day planned for Friday, April 1 in Atlanta, Georgia as a good portion of the roster will be on hand for interviews at the Georgia Dome.

Lots Of TNA Media Today, Angelina & NY Jets To TNA, More

Lots Of TNA Media Today, Angelina & NY Jets To TNA, More

By Ryan Clark | February 24, 2011 | Comments

Lots Of TNA Media Today, Angelina & NY Jets To TNA, More -- The news of Jersey Shore's Angelina Pivarnick appearing for TNA has been reported on several gossip outlets today. TNA has already accomplished their main goal with this - major media attention for the promotion. Expect lots more media in the coming days.

-- ESPN.com has picked up the story on New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott appearing at the TNA iMPACT! tapings in North Carolina tonight. Numerous media outlets are also picking this one up. It's a good media day for TNA to say the least.

-- During the interview with Peter Rosenberg we posted this morning here on the website, Hulk Hogan criticized WWE's handling of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's return to WWE last week on RAW. "They've spent so much time building John Cena up. There's a way to really build somebody up, but all of a sudden within three or four seconds, he had the whole arena screaming that Cena sucks," Hogan said. "Sometimes I don't understand the philosophy. John Cena is going to be there all the time. Even though The Rock said he's back, he's only back for one day. He's not going to be there wrestling every single day like John Cena is, really holding it down and really keeping it real. All that stuff is scripted. They had Stephanie McMahon and the writers telling The Rock exactly what to say. I just didn't understand why they would want to destroy Cena so quickly." Hogan said he has undergone eight back surgeries in the past year. Though he wears a brace, he's now pain free... or so he claims. He noted that he will be on hand for tonight's iMPACT! taping in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The interview is available here on the website. It's several posts under this report.
