New WWE champion Alberto del Rio says that he wants to retire in 5 years

WWE Star Says He May Retire Soon, Backstage Reaction To WrestleMania

Apr 9, 2011 - 8:32:37 PM -- Goldust, who is currently nursing a shoulder injury, stated today on his Twitter account that he may retire soon.
He wrote, "Guys i think im gonna retire pretty soon."
He added, "Listen i love all of our roster....they work their #!@%*#es off and they r getting faster and stronger and better each day...very proud of all of em."
On a side note, he also praised LordsofPain.net today, writing "For ualls info...lordes of pain r the best."
-- Internally, there is said to be a lot of criticism and second guessing regarding Sunday's WrestleMania XXVII pay-per-view event. Many of the items fans were critical of, such as the conclusion of the show and the Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole match, were the same criticisms officials had.

Edge Talks About When He'll Retire, Life After Wrestling & More

Apr 1, 2011 - 11:22:11 AM WWE World heavyweight champion Edge was interviewed by the Charlotte Observer this week and shed some new light on how much longer he plans to be an active wrestler. Here are some highlights of what Edge said about:
TLC Matches From The Attitude Era: "I'm relieved I don't have to do it as much. I still get called on to do it every once in a while. I had 19 ladder matches and most guys have never had one. It's taken a toll. Now everyone understands I only have so many more of those in me."
His First WrestleMania "The first one that I was on contract for I wasn't (wrestling) on the show. I was trying to soak it in. For the guys, it's a huge buildup. You're really ramped up. It's our Super Bowl. You worked your whole year to get on the show. That's what I realized not being on it. The following year at WrestleMania 16, Christian and I teamed up and won the tag-team championship. We grew up together and always dreamed of doing it."
When He'll Retire: "Maybe a couple years. Five? It's up to my body, which also depends on the kinds of matches.... I want to be able to function and walk and hike these hills."
What He'll Do After Wrestling: "I might do a sports talk show up in Canada. Maybe working behind the scenes of WWE. Beyond that, writing and illustrating children's books would be fun."

Report: WWE Star To Retire Shortly?, + WrestleMania News
-- Direct TV currently lists WrestleMania 27 as airing from 7PM ET-10PM ET. This is of course incorrect, as the event will air from 7PM ET-11PM ET.
-- Mark Henry indicated during an interview with The West Australian that he plans to retire from in-ring competition within the next 18 months despite having "a good three years left."
"The World's Stongest Man" also said there isn't much friendship behind the scenes amongst wrestlers and that when he departs, he hopes someone will take his role of trying to step in to smooth down incidents on the road.
