Happy Mother's Day!
Well, probably not expecting to see me here, were you. Regardless, I've been called up to the big show, and I'm estatic. If you guys don't know who I am, they call me Rey Ca$h. Why? Well, because my nickname is Rey, and I like money. Get it? Anyway, it's been a long, hard journey to get here, and I'm thankful for everybody who's ever read anything I've written. Be it a post or a column, you all made me who I am, and I sincerely thank you.
Anyway, since it's Mother's Day, I figured I'd do something a bit different for my debut. I was raised by my mother and my grandmother, and they're the reasons I am who I am today. I owe them everything, and I'm thankful that they're in my life. So, I'm going to do an interview of sorts with the both of them, and let you get to know me through them. We'll start off with my grandma.
My grandmother, better known as Nana, is truly the matriarch of the family. Along with my grandfather, Boogie (RIP), raised all three of their kids, and my cousin and me. Nana isn't your average grandmother. She just turned 77 on Thursday, but she acts and looks every bit of 50. She's a huge Laker fan (boo!), watches every new movie she can get her hands on, and has a Facebook page. Yes, my grandma has a Facebook page. Anyway, I asked her a few questions earlier today about wrestling.
Rey: When did you start watching wrestling?
Nana: *Laughs* My goodness. I started watching wrestling around about 1950 or so. I was still at home.
Rey: Who is your favorite wrestler?
Nana: You know I like Stone Cold, and I like John Cena. Way back, there was a guy named Rito Romero. That was back during the '40s.
Rey: What do you think of me being such a huge wrestling fan?
Nana: Oh my goodness, outstanding. It's one of your top priorities in sports. You don't miss it. You're a PPV freak! *Laughs*
Rey: What's one major storyline or thing you remember the most?
Nana: Dick Murdoch and Ted DiBiase....when Paul Boesch was over Houston Wrestling. Stone Cold and Vince
Rey: WWE has changed lately, in that they have made their programming PG. That means very little cussing, no sexual situations, and a focus on in-ring action and less on violence. Being a mother, how do you think that changes your perception of the company?
Nana: It's excellent. I agree 100%. It's the right thing for them to do for the days we're living in.
Rey: Is there one thing you want to say to the people?
Nana: I wish you all well in your efforts and your careers. God bless you all.
I was raised mainly by my grandparents, but that's because they were retired. My Mom on the other hand, she worked. We've had a lot of bumps along the way, and we still bump heads to this day, but at the end of it, she always supports me. Funny thing is, she hates wrestling. She really hates wrestling. Let me let you see the interview I gave her earlier.
Rey: You always hated wrestling and me watching it. Why?
Mom: Because I thoiught wrestling was too wild and too inappropriate for your age.
Rey: What did you think of Nana and Boogie watching wrestling just as much as me?
Mom: I grew up with them watching the original wrestling, so it wasn't a big problem with them.
Rey: You just said that you watched wrestling with the family when you were younger, so what changed?
Mom: It became to commercialized. It wasn't about family anymore. It became about sex, and I really didn't like that.
Rey: What is it exactly about wrestling that you don't like?
Mom: It's too much about sex and doesn't focus enough on sports. It doesn't hit any of the values that I believe in.
Rey: WWE has changed lately, in that they have made their programming PG. That means very little cussing, no sexual situations, and a focus on in-ring action and less on violence. Being a mother, how do you think that changes your perception of the company?
Mom: I have to see an episode, and then I can tell you.
Rey: Is there one thing you want to say to the people?
Mom: I'll probably never like wrestling, but that's just who I am. But I know you love it, and as long as you keep your values, I support you in it, and your writing.
I wasn't trying to go completely in depth with these interviews, but I just wanted you all to know where I came from. I know this wasn't the longest piece in the world, but it's bigger than that. To me, and for me, wrestling is a generational thing. I've had to fight my mom my whole life to watch it, but my grandparents always supported it. Regardless, I wouldn't be where I was in life if my Mom and my Nana weren't there for me. So to them, thank you and I love you.

Well, we're almost done here. As all of you know, I came from the Columns Forum at www.LOPForums.com, just like all of us did. A lot of people showcase that place on their columns here, as I will too. There's a lot of great talent down there that hasn't gotten a chance to be showcased on here. I want to do it a bit differently, however. Instead of me introducing a column, I'll let the writer do it themselves. I mean, who else can do their column justice but the person who wrote it, right? Anyway, I'd like to introduce you to the newest writer in the CF, Mizfan!
Hellooooo out there! Your friendly neighborhood mizfan here.
Except this isn’t my old neighborhood, and I’m not Mr Rogers anyway. This is the big time, the big wide scary world of the MP. I guess I have to introduce myself!
I’m Mizfan. And I’m pretty much a huge deal. ;)
No, in all seriousness I’m very honored to be here in any way shape or form. Never did I imagine my number crunching would be placed in view of the whole wide world… or at least whoever bothers to click on this link.
But now to business, new mizfan fans. What follows is a humble example of my work in the hallowed hall of the Columns Forum. This particular example is regarding the recent controversial WWE draft, and how it affects everyone involved, whether they were raptured away to wear a different color shirt or tragically left behind in their original clothes. I hope whoever reads this enjoys themselves, and maybe come further in to check out some of the great work lurking just a little deeper in the forum.
Without further ado, the Mizfan Minute presents: Who Got F*cked, Where, and There Were How Many Jelly Beans?
