Welcome to the WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review. This past Sunday, we saw the WWE as unofficial guest at the White House, appearing in the not too distant Verizon Center! No one other than the U.S. president, Barack Obama, himself was given the honour to attend this PPV. Ok, he was not himself, but at least the impersonator had as many bodyguard.
From a “Happy Fathers Day” singing Vickie Guerrero to the intervention of Little Jimmy toward the tormentors R-Truth, everything was there. But was it enough? So let’s see if the WWE finally can rightly say: “YES WE CAN”?
United States Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler (w / Vickie Guerrero) vs.. Kofi Kingston (c)
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review
I expected that we would get a great opener. I was right and both were from the entire evening, the best performance! Both, of course, benefited from the fact that they know each other inside out now and naturally develop over the months a certain ring chemistry. Both showed many aspects of their moveset. Kofi obviously impressed by his incredible athleticism in the high-flying moves, but Dolph Ziggler kept up by his technique and his understanding of a match structure.
Both guys had a certain recognition value, this match was a strong opener! However, this match had one flaw. Man this match could have ended perfectly with a great finisher, but instead Dolph Ziggler had to give Kofi the sleeper hold. A questionable finish seen at the end of the Undertaker vs HHH Wrestlemania 27 match.

Grudge Match
Alex Riley vs The Miz
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review
This became just the one thing I had feared. The two showed a lame and boring match that belong on the weekly TV show. Neither of them even begin to stand out and the match was about how the Miz was allowed to control his former protégé, only to be later brought back to earth. I think this feud is not over, since it was for the sole purpose of making Alex Riley breakout from the Miz’s shadow. The ending came when Miz tried to use the suitcases, but shortly before the strike was still caught by the referee. Alex Riley was able to take advantage of the confusion and hit a DDT for the victory. The Miz’s 3rd consecutive PPV loss.

Singles Match
Alberto Del Rio vs. The Big Show
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review
Even before the match, Big Show was attacked by Mark Henry, a World Strongest Slam through the Spanish announce table. Alberto Del Rio began relatively quickly to to attack the Leg of the Big show who did not give up, but the referee realized that he had to cancel the match because Big show could not get up. Alberto Del Rio won the match by submission, and consequently enjoyed this “great” triumph ….

Intercontinental Championship Match
Ezekiel Jackson vs.. Wade Barrett (c)
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review
In the run up, I believe this was the most important match of the evening. Sure the Intercontinental title was at stake, but I was much more focused on the career of Wade Barrett. Barrett control the majority of the match and even hit his Wasteland. This was not enough for victory, and shortly thereafter Jackson make the comeback with the Body Slam Mania and the Torture Rack. The Englishman gave up within seconds and then Ezekiel Jackson is the new Intercontinental Champion!

Rey Mysterio 619Singles Match
CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review
To my personal amazement, many fans shared the opinion that this was the Showstealer match of the evening. I have a different opinion, it was a pretty decent match, but these two were really very far below their real potential. The match began slow and stayed that way until the end when the 619 & GTS start coming out. Both guys showed their great ability to some extent, still, I was disappointed by both, because they start the match too slow. As I said, I was hoping for a lot more and was the magnificent finish saved it abit.

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. Christian
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review

So the two met each other in Washington to take revenge on the others. Orton was still suffering from the effects of a concussion, while Christian was fresh off his recent heel turn. After many near falls on both sides, the Viper was able to prevail with an RKO “out of nowhere.” Christian’ will be unhappy that the referee did not notice that he put his leg under the ring ropes and the pinfall should not have been allowed. A good but not outstanding match ended, with a grinning Randy Orton. The title defense was perfect for the Viper.

Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights
A stopgap match to cool down the crowd. Evan Bourne and Jack Swagger have compete against each other so much lately, why not have Sin Cara or Daniel Bryan wrestle against Cody Rhodes or Ted Dibiase. Anyway Bourne and Swagger had a good match, unfortunately the crowd did not care. What I particularly noticed is the accuracy of Evan Bourne in his moves, which is something he can teach to Sin Cara. In the end, Bourne was able to secure a roll-up victory against Swagger.

WWE Championship Match
John Cena (c) vs. R-Truth
WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights
Now for the Main Event, I actually had pleasant expectations for this match. Unfortunately, the WWE once again disappointed me and showed by far the worst main event this year! In the end, R-Truth was distracted the Little Jimmy’s of this world, one of them had the audacity to throw cooling drink,= in the face of the rtruth and our Cenation leader hit the AAA and got the win, John Cena celebrated with the National Guard and his little savior from row 1.

Overall, the WWE Capitol Punishment PPV get a rating of 5/10 Points.
Unfortunately, in the center of political power, the fans did not feel the power of the WWE. The overall PPV was bleak and could not be consider worthy for the paying spectators. They had three decent PPV matches and the other matches were Weekly TV quality matches Basically, WWE must do much better than this if they want to do something about the declining WWE PPV Buyrate numbers.
That’s it for WWE Capitol Punishment Online Highlights Review and see you next month for the WWE Money In The Bank 2011 PPV Review.
