Matches timed by Avery Edwards
The show starts with Miss Allie and Ben Masters in the ring. Masters welcomes the fans to the 3-Year Anniversery and brings out the legend he hinted at earlier in the week, Thunderbolt Patterson. Patterson puts over Doc and RPW for the young talent they promote. After this Masters and Patterson leave the ring.
NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship Match
Rob Adonic (w/ Charlie Cash) vs Bull Buchanon
Referee: Dustin Robinson
Cash is noticeably wearing a black suit and no hat, a huge contrast to his normal white suit and hat (one of the main attributes that links him to Boss Hog for the fans). The match starts with Cash distracting Buchanon, allowing for Adonis to attack him from behind. Bull quickly takes advantage and takes the match outside, slamming Adonis into the rails and getting the verbal support of the fans. Adonis takes over about 2 minutes in and focuses on Buchanon’s weakened knee. When Adonis locks in a Figure 4, Cash comes up to help him increase his leverage while avoiding being caught by the ref. The tide of the match changes when an attempted Piledriver onto the entrance ramp by Adonis is reversed by Bull. Back in the ring, Adonis and Buchanon fight to the corner, with Bull on the apron and Rob on the turnbuckle. Cash keeps trying to hold Bull’s feet down so he can’t move but he overcomes Adonis with a standing Lariat, knocking Adonis off the turnbuckle into the ring, allowing Bull to get in the ring for the win.
Result: Bull Buchanon wins via pinfall at 10:36 to retain the NWA RPW Heavyweight Title
“Adorable” Anthony Andrews & “Hit for Hire” Bobby Moore (w/ Charlie Cash) vs Drew Adler & “Marvelous” Michael Stevens (w/ Officer Chris Jacobs)
Referee: Stan Robinson
Moore begins by complaining to the crowd for making fun of him and even the feathers in the ring from Marv’s entrance attire. Marv and Drew control the early match to the crowd’s delight. Andrews and Moore utilize some underhanded tactics like double teaming behind the ref and choking with the ropes to gain the advantage. During the match, it was interesting how Moore would trash talk the opponents when he and Andrews were winning, but would quickly go to insulting Andrews anytime he was in trouble. Adler tags in and fights off both Andrews and Moore briefly. Andrews ends up on the outside and gets into a confrontation with Jacobs ending with Jacobs landing a blow, that took him down for the remainder of the match, while the referee was focused on what was happening in the ring. Cash trips Adler and Moore takes advantage, landing a running boot, for the win.
Result: Andrews & Moore win via pinfall at 10:06
Not a NWA Southern Heavyweight Title Match
Rave comes to the ring stating that the fans won’t have the pleasure of seeing him compete because Ace Rockwell was out with an injury. As he went to leave the ring, Doc Gayton interrupted and stated that Rockwell sent a friend to take care of Rave. He then introduces Patric Bentley, who comes out and takes on Rave.
Jimmy Rave vs Patric Bentley
Referee: Stan Robinson
Bentley offers to shake Rave’s hand in the beginning of the match, which Rave responds by spitting his gum at him. The two start off very technical with a series of holds and reversals. About 4 minutes in, the match gets more physical with blows, and Rave noticeably gets more insulting to Bentley as he continues to insult him and spit in his face. Bentley comes back suddenly, throwing Rave out of the ring then following up with a diving senton. Rave then comes back with The Move that Rocks the World for the win. He then stands over Bentley and, as a taunt, welcomes him to Rampage Pro Wrestling.
Jimmy Rave wins via pinfall at 10:23
NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling Tag Team Title Match
7Oh!4 (Caleb Konley & Cedric Alexander) vs The Usual Suspects (Murder One & AJ Steele)(C)(w/ Rico)
Referee: Dustin Robinson
The Suspects come out with Rico Daniels (spell check please?) who (I’m presuming) is the artist who did their entrance theme as he was rapping it as they entered. AJ’s size proves to be formidable to both members of 7Oh!4 as they struggle to take him down through most of the match. The match was almost entirely in the favor of Suspects, both in ring and with the crowd reactions. In the end the Suspects caught Konley with a Double Chokeslam for the victory. Now as much as I am a fan of NWA RPW and the current tag team champions, I have a real issue with this match (and with talking to a few people I’ve noticed I’m not the only one). RPW has been putting over 7Oh!4 a good bit as of late with their amazing athletics, technical prowess, and high-flying appeal, but in this match they got destroyed. At no time were they ever given a real advantage (most advantages they had were very short lived) and as much as I like to praise all of the aspects of RPW (and trust me I do my best to include what is bad, on the rare occasion that I have something to dislike) but this match stuck out like a sore thumb.
Suspects win via pinfall (AJ Steele pins Cabeb Konley) at 11:12
NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling Television Championship Match
No Time Limit
“Untouchable” Jeremy Vain (C)(w/ Doug Somers) vs Frankie Valentine
Referee: Stan Robinson
Frankie starts with the advantage. Time is spent on Vain talking to Somers and stalling. The match goes back and forth with both competitors getting in some incredible moves. Vain spends a lot of his time taunting Valentine while he’s winning. In the end Valentine overcame his long-term rival by reversing a cradle pin by Vain to become the new NWA RPW TV Champion. After the match Somers comes in to attack Vain with the title. After getting a Piledriver from Somers onto the title, resulting in a bloody face, he is saved by Doc Gayton. Doc, and referees Dustin and Stan all help the new Television Champion to the back.
Result: Frankie Valentine wins via pinfall at 19:16 to become the new NWA RPW TV Champion
6-Man Tag Match
Jimmy Rave Approved (Corey Hollis & Mike Posey & Chip Day) vs Kyle Matthews & J-Rod & Adrian Hawkins
Referee: Dustin Robinson
Rave accompanies the Approved to ringside but is immediately sent to the back by Referee Dustin Robinson. I’m honestly not going to go into too many details about this match. What I can say is this match was the perfect blend of technical wrestling, crowd support, heel tactics (on the part of Approved), and overall entertainment. If you didn’t make the event I suggest at the very minimum you watch this match (but obviously you should probably watch the entire broadcast on television or the website). Hawkins got a lot of cheering from the crowd as this was his first event since Memorial Mayhem. The match ended with Matthews locking in an Octopus Hold on Posey, forcing the tap out. After the match Rave attacked the winners until Betley came in for the save, taking Rave down with a Front Flip Piledriver. He then celebrates with the winners of the match.
Result: Matthews, J-Rod & Hawkins win via submission (Posey submits to Matthews) at 14:49
War Games to Come
Doc Gayton comes out and tells the fans that he wants to put an end to the year-long rivalry between Rave and Matthews. He says he will put them in the most brutal match he can think of and keeps repeating the term War Games. He went on to say that both Matthews and Rave would be captains of their own teams (the teams to be revealed later) and lead them into this match. The rules he stated would be that only submission or quitting would win the match and that a cage would surround the ring. He didn’t really say much else about how they might add more rings to the mix or the order of competitors entering the ring. He then goes on to wish Jimmy Rave Approved a happy 3-Year Anniversery (taunting their loss).
Fun Facts:
*If Jeremy Vain would have won and held the TV Title until the next event, he would have held the title for a full year since winning it in mid September.
*It’s been a year since Chip Day turned Heel and helped start the rivalry between Kyle Matthews and Jimmy Rave, who double-crossed Matthews to prevent him from winning the Heavyweight Title, in the first event in September last year.
*Both members of Hot Like Lava, who have been with the promotion since it began, were absent from the event. Others who were with the promotion from the start include J-Rod, AJ Steele, Sal Rinauro (who is currently suspended), Dustin Robinson, Ron Butler, Chad Graham & Doc Gayton (who started the promotion).
