- With WWE’s expansion in to Mexico, over the last few years the native Lucha Libre promotions have taken a serious hit. WWE are now destroying AAA and CMLL in the ratings and there are now fears that they may start poaching talent.
7 CMLL stars got tryouts during WWE’s recent Mexican tour, as the company is looking to hire more high flyers to work with Sin Cara. CMLL management is so worried that talent were told if they were found to have worked a WWE tryout, they would be suspended or fired from the promotion.
Still it will take a lot more to affect the live Lucha Libre market, which is ingrained in the culture. WWE will never run weekly shows in Mexico.
- Former WWE star Gangrel was recently hospitalized when he “T boned” off his Harley motorcycle. He wrote on Twitter: “Waiting on police, just got T boned on the harley. Life is sucking.”
He then later Tweeted:
“Thanks for all texts in hospital getting xrays should be ok ! Just sore as hell road rash and a very jacked up elbow.”
- Congrats go out to WWE star Jack Swagger and his former developmental Diva wife Catalina White, who welcomed their first child in to the world on October 17th. The baby boy is named Knox Stribling Hager.
- Long time WWE Spanish announcer Hugo Savinovich revealed on Youtube that he’s departing from the company. He said officials informed him a few days that his services would no longer be required.
Savinovich debuted for the company in 1997 and has provided Spanish commentary live on PPV and for the weekly shows ever since.
As far as we know Hugo’s partner Carlos Cabrera remains with the company.
